Why Use
EarthMate® Compost?

¨     EarthMate®, in addition to its mulching
qualities, adds organic matter to the
    soil.
¨     Increases root growth.
¨     Helps to retain the moisture in the
    soil while promoting good drainage.
¨     Releases nutrients into the soil.

Increases Organic Matter:
Organic matter improves the physical structure and “workability” of the soil.  The plant roots have easy access to air, water and nutrients.

Increases Cation Exchange Capacity (C.E.C.):
C.E.C. is the measure of the capacity of the soil to hold various nutrients.  The higher the C.E.C., the more fertilizer is held by the soil.  This helps produce healthier plants.

Adds Macro Nutrients:
Although EarthMate® Compost is not a fertilizer, it will reduce your fertilizer requirements in some applications.

       Add Micro Nutrients:

Micro-nutrients are just as important to plant growth as are macro-nutrients, but are required in smaller quantities.  EarthMate® Compost contains most of the micro-nutrients essential for plant growth, such as: Calcium, Sulfur, Manganese, Iron, Copper, Boron, Magnesium and Zinc.

     Reduces Maintenance Costs:

EarthMate® helps in reducing turf diseases and lowering the maintenance cost of lawns and fields.

EarthMate® will help make better soil for lawns and plants, and will also stimulate plant growth.

 How to Use
EarthMate® Compost

Mulching:  Spread a 2” layer of EarthMate® around trees, shrubs and flowers.  As with any mulch, keep EarthMate® at least 3” from the trunk or bark of the tree or shrub to allow the plant to breathe.

Turf:  For new planting and bare spots spread a 2” layer of EarthMate® Compost and incorporate into the soil to a depth of 6”.  Rake to level area to eliminate low spots and water pools.  Spread the seed evenly and water thoroughly.

Topsoil:  For existing topsoil add a 1”-2” layer of EarthMate® and mix in 6” deep for an enriched topsoil.

 Sub-soil:  Spread a 2”-3” layer of EarthMate® and mix to a depth of 6”.

Planting and Flowerbeds: Add a 2” layer of EarthMate® to the soil and mix to a depth of 6".  Condition the soil every other year using this method.
